December food round up: Festivities galore!
A month full of festivities, themed menus and of course some amazing feasts, it got a bit Christmassy out here at JH. As we slow down for the holidays, here’s a flashback of what we got up to this December.
Romanian menu for Great Union Day
One from the request lists, one of our clients asked if we could put on a Romanian menu. Never one to shy away from researching a different cuisine, our chefs put together a grand Romanian feast with traditional food reflecting the varied influences on Romanian cuisine - Mici (Romanian style kofte), Samale (cabbage rolls) and Cremsnit (custard slice) amongst others. The unusual menu had such a great response from the diners and our Romanian colleagues dressed up for the occasion too!
Nothing beats a kebab when you speak of crowd pleasing meals. Our twist of chilli & herb chicken shish, spiced salt cod and vegan kofte kebabs with a range of sauces – charred tomato, garlic and herb yogurt, lemon-coriander hummus; sides and fillers like pickled peppers, crisp lettuce, sumac onions, pomegranate tabbouleh all in warm Turkish flat bread were an instant hit. One of our clients even said, they will never go back to eating
Picking your way through a meal with a range of yummy bite sized dishes - the Spanish have got their meal composition so right. Our tapas lunch included Spanish meatballs, chorizo in red wine, roast hake with clams, padron peppers and of course the favorite tapa of all – croquettas (with manchego!).
Every year we put together a grand Christmas lunch – turkey and trimmings et al. This year was no different with a roast turkey, white wine gravy and cranberry sauce, smoked salmon with blinis and of course a Christmas spice chocolate cake!
Some of the teams even had a sit-down meal – lame jokes optional of course!
Hangover cure lunch
After every big Christmas party, comes the next morning at work! This year, we decided to help and put together a proper hangover killer menu at lunchtime – beer can BBQ chicken, bloody mary salad, tacos and quesadillas perked up the day!
Some of our clients like to host a family day around Christmas – a fun menu for kids (and ball pits and bouncy castles), mulled wine (or spiced apple juice for the mindful drinkers) and minced pices for the adults. Some like to organise Christmas Wreath making workshops. Some just like to invite Santa around – whatever it was our clients wanted – we helped make happen! It is the festive season afterall!
Christmas Jumper Day
Every year JH supports the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day and this year as well we had great turnout from the team – with lit up jumpers, headgear, penguin suits all being highlights.
Hits of the Month
Hands down - the Christmas lunch!
We wish you and yours a great festive season full of merriment and tasty food! Looking forward to a smashing 2018!
