Excuse us while we drool over today's staff lunch
Check out the great lunch we had today, then come and work for us!
Believe it or not, this is not just an excuse to gloat about the amazing food we get to eat every day. Don't get me wrong - it's definitely partly that, but that's not all it is. We promise.
See, every day, one of our chefs is assigned the job of cooking lunch for everyone else in the kitchen plus our office team. This plays a great triple role:
- It's a handy extra way to keep down food waste, since it uses up leftover ingredients kicking around the kitchen.
- It gives all of our chefs, from commis to executive, a chance to flex their creative muscles and show off the kinds of food they love to cook.
- It makes for a brilliant staff perk, that everyone in the company enjoys, wherever they happen to work.
Today the job fell to Marius, our Pastry Chef. Since he joined the team, he's been wowing us with his light-as-air sponges and to-die-for cheesecakes. Today he showed us what he can do with the savoury stuff, and it blew us away.
What you're looking at in these pictures is a pulled pork, bean and tomato chilli topped with whole baked eggs, pulled pork rolled in buttery puff pastry, vegetarian pastry twists, barbecue chicken and pomegranate and parsley couscous offered up as a side.
Yep, wow. Trust me, I'm going to be digging about for a recipe for at least one of these. I'm leaning towards those rolled pastries... what do you think?
