February food round up - its getting tastier
After a fairly light and healthy stab at January, most people start ditching the diets in February. With the month giving us plenty of occasions to indulge - Valentine’s Day and Shrove Tuesday (better remembered as Pancake Day), and a bit of inspiration for special cuisines with Black History Month, we weren’t short on opportunities to create delicious food and treats for our diners this month! From fun chocolate making workshops with Cocoa Den; to pop up lunches including pancake counters, BYO Burrito Fridays, Indian Thalis (to name a few) - we certainly did pack in quite a bit for a short month.
Black History Month February is Black History Month and to celebrate the rich food heritage from the African diaspora, we created special dishes for the menus every week - including Ugandan specialities such as Posho, Bunuoro beef stew and ground nut sim sim curry. We were delighted to welcome Aduna - an African inspired health food brand to come into host a tasting session.
Valentine’s Day special treats Whether you're a Valentines lover or scrooge, no one can resist sweet treats by Marius, our pastry chef. On the 14th came some gorgeous pink cookies with white chocolate dipped strawberries. How LOVE-ly!
Chip and dip day @ Twitter Sometimes all this responsible snacking does get to us and all we want are good ol’ tasty crisps - done in style at Twitter of course. We used Hip chips, who presented their crisps with a range of punchy dips including Baba Ganoush, Beetroot & lemongrasss marmalade.
Friday Teatimes Teatimes at Twitter were fun this month with some Lobster rolls from B.O.B’s Lobster one afternoon, a seafood platter on another.
Go on.. Share the love.. Don’t be shellfish..
BYO Burrito Friday Nooo.. We don't mean bring in a burrito (Gosh! We’d never ask you to do that!!). We mean Build Your Own Burrito - how fun is that! That’s exactly what we like - creating FUN. And this way, you have total control over how much chipotle. Fillings like slow cooked 3 chilli and achiote chicken will totally make you a total burrito pro..
Indian Thali day With an Indian restaurant revolution in London at the moment, we thought of creating a special Thali lunch day for one of our clients - all with a thali (plate), assortment of pickles, delicious dal, Thakali curry (tomato and coconut), Rasa vangi (aubergine in tomatoes and onions) and Saag paneer (spinach and cottage cheese curry), parathas and saffron basmati rice.
Pasta bar One of the most comforting foods, we love a bowl of fresh pasta - we put together a pasta bar at Twitter offering three pastas - mushroom and truffle tortelloni, with porcini sauce and fresh black truffles, crab ravioli with lobster bisque and a gnocchi with Chianti braised ox cheek ragu and Parmigiano Reggiano - delizioso!!
Pop ups / Demo’s for the month
Valentine’s Day with Cocoa Den On Valentine’s day, we organised a chocolate decorating workshop at some of our client locations - a fun event, with the wonderful folks from Cocoa Den. A lot of fun was had and a lot of chocolate eaten, but more importantly, people learned how to decorate some incredible truffles and heart shaped chocolate lolly (dairy free to add!) and then got to take away their labour of love in beautiful little packets to gift to their loved ones or to themselves.
Pancake Day Pancake Day was celebrated in style at a couple of our client locations with Matt, our Director of food and Susi our Development chef making pancakes live. They made classic British, French and American buttermilk pancakes with a large variety of toppings for people to experiment with. It was flippin marvelous!
Jazz and cocktails Antonio, our Catering Manager at Twitter UK (and bartender extraordinaire!!) shaked and stirred some fantastic cocktails for a Jazz and Cocktail night there. His top tipples for the night included some popular classics like Old Fashioned and Manhattans and other gems - Lychee delight and Mary Pickford.
Snact sampling As you all know, we at JH deeply care about bringing you delicious food - but we also care about boring but very important stuff like what happens with food waste. We already love the guys from SNACT (remember we spoke about them here). So we arranged some tasting sessions with them at some of our client locations - not only a tasty snack, but also a responsible one made with surplus fruit from supermarkets - I’m grabbing a pack now!
Hits of the month:
